1. Purpose of This Policy

This Policy establishes the intended use, installation requirements, operating limitations, safety precautions, filtration-performance limitations, customer responsibilities and product-support procedures applicable to AQVIO shower-water filtration products.

The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that customers receive clear and accurate information regarding the product and its intended use and that AQVIO's products are used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

This Policy forms part of AQVIO's product documentation and should be read together with the applicable product packaging, installation instructions, warranty terms, cartridge instructions and other product-specific documentation supplied with the product.

2. Intended Use

AQVIO products are designed for household shower-water filtration.

The product is intended to be installed between a compatible water supply connection and a shower outlet in accordance with AQVIO's installation instructions.

AQVIO products are not intended to:

  • diagnose any disease or medical condition;
  • treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition;
  • replace medical or dermatological treatment;
  • replace a drinking-water purification system;
  • make water suitable for drinking unless a specific product is expressly designed and certified for such use;
  • replace municipal, domestic or other primary water-treatment systems;
  • guarantee any particular medical, dermatological or cosmetic outcome.

3. No Medical or Therapeutic Representation

AQVIO is a shower-water filtration product and not a medical or therapeutic product.

AQVIO does not represent that use of its products will diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or manage:

  • eczema;
  • dermatitis;
  • psoriasis;
  • acne;
  • scalp conditions;
  • dandruff;
  • hair loss;
  • hair thinning;
  • allergic conditions;
  • skin irritation;
  • dryness;
  • or any other disease, medical condition, dermatological condition or hair/scalp disorder.

Any reference by AQVIO to skin, hair, shower experience, comfort or water quality is intended to describe the intended consumer experience and/or the characteristics of the filtered water and must not be interpreted as a medical or therapeutic claim.

Customers seeking treatment for an existing medical, dermatological, scalp or hair condition should consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

4. Individual Results May Vary

The characteristics of shower water and the experience of using filtered water may vary significantly between households.

Actual results may depend upon, among other things:

  • source-water quality;
  • municipal or private water supply;
  • hardness and mineral composition;
  • chlorine/chloramine concentration;
  • sediment load;
  • plumbing condition;
  • age and condition of plumbing;
  • water pressure;
  • flow rate;
  • temperature;
  • frequency of use;
  • cartridge age and condition;
  • installation quality;
  • existing water-treatment equipment;
  • and individual sensitivity.

Accordingly, AQVIO does not guarantee that every customer will experience the same result or that use of an AQVIO product will produce a particular skin, hair or personal-care outcome.

5. Filtration Performance

Any filtration-performance statement made by AQVIO relates only to the specific contaminant, test method, test conditions, product/component configuration and performance parameters supported by the applicable technical documentation.

A reduction claim for one contaminant must not be interpreted as a claim that the product removes all contaminants from water.

Filtration performance in an individual household may differ from controlled laboratory or test conditions.

AQVIO does not represent that its products remove every dissolved substance, mineral, contaminant, microorganism or chemical present in a particular water supply.

Where a particular contaminant is not expressly identified in the applicable product documentation or substantiation, no representation of removal or reduction of that contaminant should be inferred.

6. Hardness, TDS and Water Chemistry

AQVIO products should not be interpreted as universal water-softening or drinking-water-treatment systems.

Unless expressly stated and specifically substantiated for the relevant product, AQVIO does not represent that its shower filter:

  • removes all hardness-causing minerals;
  • reduces TDS to a specified level;
  • changes water pH to a specified level;
  • makes hard water equivalent to softened water;
  • or produces a particular mineral composition.

Customers with unusually hard, saline, contaminated or otherwise abnormal water conditions should obtain appropriate water-quality information before selecting a filtration solution.

7. Installation Requirements

The product must be installed in accordance with the installation instructions supplied by AQVIO.

Customers must:

  1. use compatible threaded connections;
  2. ensure that connections are properly sealed;
  3. install the product in the specified direction, where applicable;
  4. ensure that the filter is securely connected;
  5. use only compatible accessories and fittings;
  6. inspect connections after installation;
  7. operate the product only within the specified water-pressure and operating conditions; and
  8. replace the cartridge in accordance with the recommended replacement interval.

Where a tap, shower arm or other connection is not compatible with the product, an appropriate locally sourced adapter may be required.

AQVIO does not guarantee compatibility with every plumbing configuration, fitting, tap, showerhead or non-standard connection.

8. Prohibited Modification or Misuse

Customers must not:

  • dismantle the product except where expressly permitted by AQVIO instructions;
  • modify the filtration assembly;
  • modify or bypass the cartridge;
  • alter the internal filtration media;
  • use damaged components;
  • use incompatible fittings;
  • intentionally restrict or obstruct the water passage;
  • expose the product to operating conditions outside its specifications;
  • use the product for an unintended application;
  • or otherwise modify the product from its supplied configuration.

Any alteration, modification or misuse may affect filtration performance, water flow and product safety.

The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 specifically recognises misuse, alteration or modification as relevant to product-liability claims.

9. Cartridge Replacement and Flow Reduction

The cartridge is a consumable filtration component.

Its usable life depends on water quality, sediment load, contaminant concentration, water consumption and frequency of use.

A cartridge may require replacement earlier than the nominal recommended interval where the water supply contains unusually high levels of sediment or other substances.

A significant reduction in water flow may indicate:

  • cartridge exhaustion;
  • sediment loading;
  • blockage;
  • obstruction in the plumbing;
  • showerhead blockage;
  • or another installation/water-supply condition.

Customers should not continue operating the product if water flow becomes abnormally restricted.

10. Existing Plumbing and Water-Supply Conditions

AQVIO is installed into an existing water-supply system.

Old, corroded, damaged or contaminated plumbing may contain accumulated:

  • rust;
  • sediment;
  • mineral deposits;
  • scale;
  • pipe debris;
  • or other material.

Installation or changes in water flow may cause pre-existing material within plumbing or fittings to move downstream.

AQVIO is not responsible for the condition of pre-existing plumbing that it did not manufacture or install.

Customers experiencing unusual flow restriction, discoloration, leakage or other abnormal conditions should discontinue use and contact AQVIO Support.

11. Skin, Hair or Other Personal Reactions

AQVIO does not represent that its products are suitable for every individual's skin, scalp or hair condition.

Individual sensitivity may vary.

If a customer experiences:

  • persistent irritation;
  • itching;
  • burning;
  • rash;
  • unusual dryness;
  • discomfort;
  • scalp irritation;
  • hair/scalp changes;
  • or any other unexpected reaction after installation or use,

the customer should discontinue use and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.

Customers should not rely on AQVIO products as a treatment for an existing medical or dermatological condition.

AQVIO Support may assist with product troubleshooting and installation-related concerns but does not provide medical diagnosis or medical treatment.

12. No Guarantee of Medical or Cosmetic Outcomes

AQVIO does not guarantee:

  • softer skin;
  • reduced hair fall;
  • hair growth;
  • elimination of dandruff;
  • treatment of eczema;
  • treatment of dermatitis;
  • treatment of psoriasis;
  • elimination of skin irritation;
  • prevention of allergic reactions;
  • or any other specific medical, dermatological or cosmetic outcome.

Any customer testimonials or consumer experiences communicated by AQVIO are individual experiences and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of similar results.

13. Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for:

  • providing accurate information regarding their water and plumbing conditions when seeking product guidance;
  • following installation instructions;
  • using compatible connections;
  • operating the product within specified conditions;
  • replacing cartridges as recommended;
  • inspecting the product periodically;
  • not modifying or misusing the product;
  • and discontinuing use where an abnormal condition or unexpected reaction occurs.

Where professional plumbing work is required, customers should engage a suitably qualified plumber.

14. Product Information and Advertising Claims

AQVIO aims to ensure that product descriptions, specifications and performance statements are accurate and appropriately substantiated.

Performance claims should be understood only within the scope of the relevant product documentation and applicable test conditions.

No statement contained in an advertisement, website, product image, marketplace listing, social-media post or other communication should be interpreted beyond the specific claim and qualification actually stated.

AQVIO does not intend to create an implication that its product provides medical, therapeutic or universal water-purification benefits where such benefits are not expressly stated and substantiated.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority's framework requires advertisements to be non-misleading and addresses substantiation of claims.

15. Third-Party Testing and Technical Documentation

AQVIO maintains technical and testing documentation relevant to its products and their stated performance.

Such documentation may include, as applicable:

  • laboratory test reports;
  • material specifications;
  • component specifications;
  • manufacturing documentation;
  • quality-control records;
  • filtration-media documentation;
  • product specifications;
  • and other technical records.

The existence of a laboratory test does not mean that every possible contaminant, condition or household application has been tested.

Where a test applies to a particular component, filtration media or configuration, its scope must not be represented as broader than the actual test.

AQVIO reserves the right to provide technical documentation to regulators, courts, competent authorities, auditors or other legally authorised parties where required.

16. Warranty

AQVIO's applicable warranty covers the product strictly in accordance with the warranty terms supplied with the relevant product.

The warranty does not automatically cover:

  • normal cartridge exhaustion;
  • ordinary wear;
  • sediment blockage caused by unusually contaminated water;
  • improper installation;
  • incompatible plumbing;
  • misuse;
  • unauthorised modification;
  • accidental damage;
  • physical damage;
  • freezing;
  • excessive water pressure;
  • prolonged disuse;
  • or damage arising from conditions outside the product's specified operating parameters,

subject always to rights and remedies available under applicable law.

17. Customer Complaint and Incident Procedure

Where a customer reports an alleged product-related injury, irritation, illness, damage or other adverse event, AQVIO may request reasonable information necessary to investigate the matter, including:

  • order number;
  • product model;
  • batch or lot information;
  • purchase date;
  • installation date;
  • installation method;
  • water source;
  • location/pincode;
  • water-quality information where available;
  • cartridge age;
  • photographs or videos of the installation;
  • photographs of the product and cartridge;
  • description of the reported issue;
  • date and time of onset;
  • duration of the issue;
  • and other reasonably relevant information.

AQVIO may request that the customer discontinue use of the product while an investigation is undertaken.

Where a medical condition or physical reaction is reported, AQVIO Support will not attempt to diagnose the condition or determine medical causation.

The customer should seek appropriate professional medical assistance where necessary.

18. Investigation and Product Retention

Where reasonably necessary for investigation, AQVIO may request return of the relevant product, cartridge, component or other material for inspection or testing.

Customers should not dispose of, dismantle or materially alter a product that is the subject of an alleged safety or performance incident until AQVIO has had a reasonable opportunity to investigate, where doing so is reasonably practicable.

AQVIO may document the investigation, findings, photographs, test results, communications and corrective actions in its internal records.

19. Causation

A temporal association between use of an AQVIO product and a subsequent symptom or condition does not, by itself, establish that the AQVIO product caused or worsened the condition.

The cause of an individual skin, hair, scalp or other health condition may depend on numerous factors unrelated to the product, including pre-existing conditions, medications, allergies, cosmetics, personal-care products, environmental exposure, water quality and other individual factors.

AQVIO will not make a medical determination of causation.

Any alleged product-related adverse event should be assessed on the basis of the available evidence and, where appropriate, by qualified professionals.

20. Statutory Rights

Nothing in this Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, waive or override any consumer right, statutory remedy, product-liability right or other protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under applicable law.

Where any provision of this Policy is determined to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue to the extent permitted by law.

21. Governing Law

This Policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable in India.

Nothing in this Policy is intended to restrict any jurisdiction or remedy that applicable law requires to remain available to a consumer.

22. Document Control and Record Retention

AQVIO should maintain, as applicable:

  • product specifications;
  • supplier/manufacturer records;
  • material specifications;
  • laboratory and testing documentation;
  • batch/lot records;
  • quality-control records;
  • warranty records;
  • installation instructions;
  • product complaints;
  • adverse-event reports;
  • customer-support communications;
  • corrective actions;
  • product photographs;
  • marketplace listings and historical versions;
  • advertising creatives;
  • claim-substantiation records;
  • and relevant invoices and purchase records.

Records should be retained for a period determined by AQVIO's legal counsel and applicable statutory/regulatory requirements.

23. Important Notice to Customers

AQVIO is designed to provide shower-water filtration as described for the relevant product.

It is not a medical treatment.

Please follow the installation and usage instructions supplied with the product.

If you experience an unexpected reaction or abnormal product condition, discontinue use and contact AQVIO Support. Where a medical issue is involved, seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
